We just got through a pandemic and work from home works well for many businesses. This idea should be obvious to policy makers. The policy idea is to give employers and employees a tax credit for working X% of their time from home. Reduced commuter traffic will reduce emissions and help the environment. This policy helps beyond the environment. Right now we have a mental health problem in our country. Too many children are raised by screens because their parents have to spend too much time working and commuting. This leads children to become isolated and potentially develop antisocial behavior. Less commuting time can lead to more family time and healthier children. Reduced commuting also reduces wear and tear on our roadways. This will spread out the time between repair and lower tax payer burden.
